The Goth Lesson

Published by Jason Feinberg at 8:17 pm under Other

From about 15 to 20 I was goth. And one benefit from that, the interest in looking at both the lighter and darker sides of life, gave me a very early realization about the finality of our lives. From that, I developed – as I got older – a true understanding about what is truly important in life and what is worth simply stepping over. I think that is one characteristic that led me to be able to start and lead a quickly growing business.

I think that is applicable to most ’subcultures’ and in particular anti-social subcultures. Those who dont adhere to the status quo are constantly observing most aspects of our society from an outside perspective, and that can lead to a more informed and open minded opinion, and consequently creates an advantage in life over those who are in the daily grind with no appreciation or understanding of anything outside of their ‘box’.
I think its key to remember that anger or frustration /dissolution at what is around us, is also a powerful tool that we can use to our advantage, Jason’s example provides perfect evidence of this.
