The 1-3-7

Published by Jason Feinberg at 11:21 am under General Music Business, Other

When I was an assistant music director at KUNV, a 15,000 watt college station in Las Vegas, I was told a bit of a secret on how to quickly scan CDs to decide if we were interested or not:

Listen to the first minute (at most) of tracks 1, 3, and 7.

It’s not universal, but many CD’s track orders are set to flow a certain way, and quite often the most prime cuts land at tracks 1, 3, and 7.

Keep this concept in mind when deciding your track order and where you place your focus tracks.
