A Tip For Your Myspace Page

Published by Jason Feinberg at 4:12 pm under General Music Business, Marketing, Other

Here’s a simple online promotion idea utilizing your Myspace page.

Change your user picture every few days. In addition, rotate photos at a somewhat consistent pace, so that as time goes on people see more and more pictures. Everything from album covers, band photos, abstract art, logo elements, messages..

It’s human nature to notice something new in a field of things that generally remain constant. When I am looking through my friend list to find someone’s profile to visit and a new icon catches my eye, it sparks a hit.

Repeated Hits = An Essential, Elusive Thing.

While its definately necessary to keep things updated, new and fresh to keep your audience interested and inspired, I think you have to keep your theme /vibe / look, and maintain your “brand image”.
A combination of ‘branding’ and image consistency with fresh ideas, in my opinion is most effective in attracting and more importantly keeping an interested fanbase. It creates assurance that your fans can expect something they are familiar with, whilst providing something new and exciting to look forward to.
My favourite bands / labels / albums, have always tended to have a theme, image and general vibe throughout their catalogs.
