Turn YOU Into Your Career.

Published by Jason Feinberg at 3:07 pm under General Music Business

Late last night something fairly profound came to me.

Lately I’ve given a lot of thought to what it takes to find a career that truly works for you. Not just a job, and not a career that you do simply because it’s what is in front of you. I’ve mentioned the concept before of Job vs. Career, and now I am taking it a step further.

Far too few people actually take an introspective look inside themselves to determine their strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, interests, and desires when it comes to looking for work. This is unfortunate, as I feel the easiest way to find a career path is to figure out what you are naturally inclined to do, and find a way to make money. In other words –

Take a long, hard, objective look at yourself and determine what traits you inherently possess that can be used to build a living.

It’s an even bigger bonus of your natural abilities and interests are in line with what you think you’d like to do for work. I find a number of people in the music industry have this collaboration of skills and passion.

I defiantly agree Jason. I came to a realization that is simply a continuation to what you said.
Once you find that “something” that you’re inclined to do, just jump right in. Follow your inclinations and along comes opportunity…
I wanted to work in music marketing as you know. Well, I took a risk, and I’m aiding the marketing efforts for a few Indie artists. You know how it is just starting out, but I feel like I’m finally getting into the game.

I think what alot of people fail to realize is, whatever you love doing or take a true passion for, is most probably what you will be best at as far as a career.

The majority of the most successful people, tend to have a passion for what they do for a living. As Jason has stated numerous times: passion and common sense! These two things will lay the foundations to build your talent and success in your chosen career.

Final point; most people concede to a career in something they have no interest in, which is a complete waste of time in my opinion because the probability of being successful in something you have no passion for in highly unlikely. Although if everyone made a living in what they loved, I doubt the world could function!
