CMJ Days 1 – 4
Been insanely busy here in New York at the CMJ Music Marathon conference.
I’ve been coming to this conference on and off for over 10 years – my first time here was in 1995, representing the college radio station KUNV. It’s always been a blast, and more importantly (for me) a great way to put faces to names of people I’ve been emailing with for ages.
Have been to a number of great shows, attended some exceptional panels, and went to a few different new media-related meetups. If any of my readers have any doubt as to the power of networking, get out of this industry NOW! I have met so many like minded people the past week and look forward to getting to know them better and seeing how we can work together.
Went to Tower Records just above Lincoln Center to pick the bones at 30% off. I filled in the collection – got a King Diamond reissue, a Mercyful Fate reissue, a GG Allin CD I didn’t have, the Time’s first CD (a classic!) and the solo Morris Day CD “The Color Of Success”.
Did I just say, in the same sentence, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, GG Allin, The Time, and Morris Day?
Alright – it’s Friday night, I’m in Manhattan, and I have a CMJ badge. What am I doing writing this??? Time to hit the street!!
